This 10 Days best of Uganda Adventure Safari involves thrilling activities like gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, Big Five experience, wilderness horseback and more. The parks to be visited include; Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Forest and Lake Mburo National Parks. Each of these parks offers a unique experience that you may not find anywhere else.
The trip offers an opportunity to take you inside the dense African jungles with the most scenic places, amazing nature-created features, abundance of wildlife, big apes, and numerous bird species. This trip covers the most visited national parks and the best you can ever visit on your trip to the pearl of Africa.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your lodge
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by Leone tours and travel representative and safari guide who will transfer you to the hotel reserved for you in Kampala. You will be briefed about your 10 Days best of Uganda Adventure Safari and you will have a good evening relaxation at your lodge.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Rhino tracking
After breakfast, begin the panoramic drive northwest through the famous Luwero Triangle. En-route, you’ll stop to visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary the only place where you can meet these members of the Big Five family in the wilderness. This visit will provide you with an opportunity to go closer to these peaceful giants to have a clearer view and photo moment. Later, proceed to Masindi Town for lunch and then drive to Murchison Falls National Park to explore the top of the falls. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise – Evening Game Drive
Enjoy breakfast and head out for a morning game drive. Your guide will help you to spot elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, Rothchild’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. You’ll then go for a lunch break. Afterwards, proceed to an afternoon boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just a few meters from the Devil’s Cauldron. Marvel at the toothsome hippos, home of crocodiles and over the 17km stretch you may see elephants, waterbucks and Uganda kobs. This is also the zone of many birds, species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant, the rare shoebill stork and by chance you might meet the lakeshore hunters. Take shots of the photogenic Murchison Falls. After this amazing boat cruise safari, make a simple evening game drive specifically in search of the big cats. You’ll then return to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park Evening Nature Walk to Bigodi Swamp
After breakfast, check out and drive to Kibale Forest National Park with a morning game drive through Murchison Falla Park. This will award you with an opportunity to see some animals you missed during the previous game drive. The drive takes you through little towns and villages as you observe the African rhythm of life.
On arrival, check in to your preferred accommodation to relax and later go for an evening nature walk at Bigodi Sanctuary Nature Walk. Kibale Forest National Park is proudly known to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species are the chimpanzees, our closest relative. Kibale has 1450 chimpanzees, representing Uganda’s largest population of this endangered primate. Kibale is also home to the rare L’Hoest’s monkey. Other primates include the black and white Colobus, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkey, Olive baboon to mention but a few. Dinner and overnight stay are at the lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have breakfast then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a briefing before setting off for a forest walk in search of chimpanzees. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small organisms making it interesting. The walk will reward you with other primates like grey-cheeked mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, lhoestes and butterflies.
After tracking the chimps go to the lodge for refreshments and lunch. Then start the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Its lush savannah offers prime grazing ground for the African buffaloes, African elephants and various antelopes. The park also hosts over 600 bird species. Drive straight to the lodge, check in and relax at the lodge.
Day 6: Early Morning Game Drive, Afternoon Boat Cruise and Evening Game Drive
You will rise up as early as at 6:00 am, grab your breakfast and head out to catch the lions and hyenas hunting before they disappear into the thickets. Other animals to see on the game drive are; Cape buffalo, the handsome Uganda kob, warthog, elephant, leopard and waterbuck. At 3:00 pm, take a cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a haven for over 600 bird types, hippo, crocodile and Cape buffalo. Later, go for another evening game drive through Kasenyi and this will be specifically to search for the big hunters of the park such as lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and many others. The evening is their prime time to look out for their survival so you can expect to find them in action. Later on, return to the lodge for relaxation and dinner.
Day 7: Morning Game and Transfer to Bwindi National Park via Ishasha sector
You’ll wake up and have breakfast before continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to the half of the world’s mountain gorillas. You’ll have a game drive through the Ishasha sector to search for the amazing tree climbing lions. After collecting memories here, continue with the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for the thrilling mountain gorilla experience. On arrival, check in, relax and go for an evening village walk or souvenir shopping in the local craft shops if time allows. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with evening canoeing
After your breakfast, head to the information centre for a briefing before embarking on the long-awaited trek. Gorilla trekking may last from 3 hours to 8 hours or more of the day. Sometimes with rain overhead so be prepared with sturdy hiking boots and a waterproof jacket. After a satisfactory trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved hot shower and lunch. Afterwards, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for evening canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 9: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park and Evening Game Drive
After breakfast with great memories of the mountain gorillas, depart Lake Bunyonyi heading to Lake Mburo National Park. It’s the best place in the country to see the gigantic eland antelope, as well as zebra, topi, impala, and several acacia-associated birds. On arrival at the park enjoy the drive en-route to your overnight accommodation. Wildlife here includes the elusive leopards, jackals, hyenas, zebras and the newly introduced giraffes among others. Drive straight to the lodge to have lunch and relax as you view the park. In the evening, go for an amazing game drive in search of the wildlife of the park. Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda with few predators and it is the best for biking and nature walk safaris. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the lodge.
Day 10: Morning Bush Walking safari and transfer to Entebbe International Airport
Wake up early in the morning to have breakfast, check out of the lodge, and drive to the park for the 2-hour jungle walking safari. The walking safari is one of the most magical ways to experience and enjoy the jungle because it allows you to be free and not confined in a safari vehicle, allowing you to enjoy fresh air directly from the bush and walk with mammals such as giraffes, and zebras.
After the game drive, drive back to Entebbe International Airport with a stopover at Kayabwe Equator landmark for the water experiment, which is done to show how forces move on each side of the planet. After the equator experiment, have lunch, and proceed with your drive back to Entebbe airport to conclude your safari.
