Detailed 4-Day Safari Itinerary

DAY1

Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins with an early pickup from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala. Meet your professional driver-guide and travel towards southwestern Uganda through changing landscapes, rural settlements, farms and rolling hills.

Depending on your route and departure point, stop at the Equator crossing for photographs and continue towards Mbarara for lunch. Proceed to your selected accommodation near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After checking in, relax, enjoy dinner and prepare for your gorilla trekking experience the following morning.

Destination: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Accommodation: Selected lodge near Bwindi, subject to availability

Meals: Lunch and dinner, as arranged

Travel time: Allow approximately 8–10 hours from Kampala, depending on the trekking sector, road conditions and stops.

DAY2

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the designated Bwindi park headquarters for your ranger briefing. Learn about gorilla trekking guidelines and forest safety before entering the rainforest with trained park rangers to search for your assigned habituated mountain gorilla family.

The trek may involve steep slopes, dense vegetation and muddy trails. Its duration depends on where the gorillas are located. Once your group finds them, visitors generally spend up to one hour observing their behaviour, following the current park rules and ranger instructions.

After trekking, return to the starting point and meet your driver-guide. Depending on your permit sector and the route arranged, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive at your lodge, enjoy dinner and rest before the next day's wildlife activities.

Main activity: Mountain gorilla trekking

Destination: Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Accommodation: Selected safari lodge in or near Queen Elizabeth National Park

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, as arranged

Important: The gorilla permit must be booked and confirmed in advance for the correct date and trekking sector.

DAY3

Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Explore wildlife-rich savannah plains and look for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs and other animals. With luck, you may spot lions or leopards, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Return to your lodge for breakfast or lunch according to the confirmed schedule. Later, head to the Kazinga Channel for a scenic boat cruise connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. The channel attracts hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants and numerous waterbirds, providing excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

After the cruise, return to your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening in the African wilderness.

Activities: Morning game drive and Kazinga Channel boat cruise

Accommodation: Selected lodge near Queen Elizabeth National Park

DAY4

Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. Enjoy the countryside scenery and stop for lunch or refreshments along the way, depending on your route and schedule.

If time and your departure schedule permit, your guide may arrange a stop at the Equator crossing for photographs. Continue to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport, where your four-day gorilla trekking and wildlife safari comes to an end.

Destination: Entebbe or Kampala

Meals: Breakfast and lunch, as arranged
