Welcome to MJK Helping Hands Foundation Uganda

Giving Back

The MJK Helping Hands Foundation Uganda, an integral sister organization of Leone Tours and Travel, was established with a profound purpose: to generate crucial income that will support and uplift the lives of needy and inspiring Ugandans residing near wildlife areas. Our mission is deeply rooted in leveraging the power of tourism to make a tangible difference in these communities, thereby improving their quality of life while promoting sustainable development and conservation.

Our foundation is committed to fostering meaningful partnerships with local communities, recognizing that true progress and empowerment come from collaboration and mutual support. By working closely with these communities, we aim to implement and support a range of impactful programs that address critical areas such as education, conservation, and community empowerment.

Our Vision

Creating a dedicated orphanage for the needy Children

1. Community-Centered Homestead

Establish a dedicated living and community space capable of accommodating at least 100 individuals, fostering unity and support.

2. Sustainable Funding Model

Allocate 25% of the revenue from Leone Tours and Travel to fund the development and ongoing operations of the orphanage

3. Empowerment and Opportunity Hub

Use the homestead as a platform for delivering programs and resources that uplift the community and provide avenues for personal and collective growth.

Education

Education is a cornerstone of our mission. By focusing on educational programs, we aim to provide children and adults in these communities with access to quality education, which is essential for personal and professional growth. Our efforts will include setting up schools, providing scholarships, and offering vocational training to empower individuals and enhance their future prospects.

Conservation

Conservation is another key area of our focus. We understand the delicate balance between human activity and wildlife preservation, and we are dedicated to promoting sustainable practices that protect the natural environment. Our programs will work towards educating the local communities about the importance of conservation, supporting wildlife protection initiatives, and implementing sustainable tourism practices that minimize environmental impact.

Looking ahead

The establishment of our homestead is not just a physical space but a symbol of our commitment to creating a better future for these communities. Through the revenue from our tours, we are not only supporting our operational costs but also investing in the people and the environment that make this region so special.

We envision a thriving community where individuals have the resources and opportunities to pursue their dreams, where education and conservation go hand in hand, and where every person has a stake in the future of their environment and their lives. The MJK Helping Hands Foundation Uganda is dedicated to making this vision a reality, and we invite you to join us on this journey towards sustainable development and meaningful impact

Community Empowerment

Community empowerment is central to our approach. We believe that by strengthening local communities, we can drive positive change and create lasting impact. Our empowerment programs will include skill development workshops, leadership training, and support for small businesses. By investing in the people who live in these wildlife areas, we aim to foster self-reliance and resilience, enabling them to thrive and contribute to their communities’ overall well-being.

Our Story

The Birth of a Vision: Leone Tours and Travel

I was born and raised in western Uganda, surrounded by breathtaking beauty — the mountains, forests, and wildlife that have long made our country one of the most captivating destinations on earth. From a young age, I developed a deep love for nature and conservation. But alongside this beauty, I witnessed heartbreaking realities: children who had lost their parents, sleeping in makeshift shelters, going without food, clothing, or even the hope of education. It left a mark on my heart. For years, I dreamed of finding a way to protect Uganda’s natural heritage while also supporting the orphaned and vulnerable children I saw every day. I believed that if people could come to experience the magic of this land, they could also be part of restoring the lives of its children. That dream remained only an idea — until I met Katarzyna and Muhammad.

The Birth of a Vision: Leone Tours and Travel

When I travelled to Uganda, I was seeking connection with nature — the kind of raw, untouched beauty that awakens the soul. I’ve always had a passion for conservation, and Uganda offered everything I hoped for: vibrant wildlife, lush landscapes, and a sense of peace I hadn’t found anywhere else. But as we travelled deeper into the countryside, what I saw began to weigh heavily on my heart. So many children — barefoot, hungry, with no access to school or even basic clothing. They smiled at us, but there was pain in their eyes. I couldn’t look away. I couldn’t forget them. Over dinner one evening, Muhammad and I opened up to our guide, Isaac, about what we had seen. What we didn’t expect was that he had been carrying that same burden in his heart for years.

The Birth of a Vision: Leone Tours and Travel

As someone born in Egypt and now a Polish citizen, I’ve always felt connected to both people and places. I joined this journey through Uganda with Katarzyna because we share a love for the environment and a deep respect for nature. What we didn’t expect was how much this trip would change us. The beauty of Uganda’s landscapes was breathtaking — but the suffering we witnessed among children was unforgettable. Children without homes. Children without parents. Children without a future. When we shared these feelings with Isaac, there was an immediate sense of unity. Though we came from different worlds, our hearts spoke the same language — compassion, responsibility, and a desire to do more.

The Birth of a Vision: Leone Tours and Travel

That night, the three of us sat together not just as travellers and a guide, but as people who had found a shared purpose. We asked ourselves one question: What if tourism could be more than just seeing the world? What if it could help change it? From that conversation, Leone Tours and Travel was born — a tour company with a mission. We designed it to be more than a business. It is a bridge — connecting travelers to Uganda’s natural wonders, and at the same time, directly supporting orphaned and vulnerable children through a portion of every booking. Our dream is to give each child we reach the chance to dream again — through education, shelter, clothing, and care — while protecting the beauty of the land they call home. We invite you to journey with us — not just to discover Uganda, but to help write a new story of hope, healing, and humanity.
